“First class, all three.” ❤️
Pianist Vladimir Horowitz on the great Sergei Rachmaninov. ❤️
The two met in the 1920s, and Rachmaninov was so impressed by Horowitz’s playing that he entrusted him with premiering some of his works, including the revised version of the Piano Concerto No. 2. Horowitz was also acclaimed for his recordings of the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3, and his performance awed the composer, who proclaimed “he swallowed it whole.”
