Trump campaign says they were granted a license to use “My Hero” by Foo Fighters at rally

The Foo Fighters recently denounced the Trump campaign for using their 1997 song “My Hero” during a campaign rally held by Donald Trump in Glendale, AZ on August 23rd. .. it was for Trump‘s introduction for Robert F. Kennedy Jr who suspended his campaign and pledged his support to Trump at the rally. and the song played when he came on stage see below…

The song’s use was condemned by the band … with a spokesperson telling several press outlets, “Foo Fighters were not asked permission, and if they were, they would not have granted it.” …stated a spokesperson and that “appropriate actions” were being taken against the Trump campaign for their use of the song. and they said that royalties generated from any further usage of the song by the Trump campaign would be donated to … Democrat ticket of Kamala Harris & Tim Walz.

However, it seems there may have been miscommunication somewhere down the line, as the The Independent are reporting that they have seen documents seemingly confirming that the Trump campaign were granted a legit license to use the song from performance rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (aka BMI). A Trump campaign spokesperson also confirmed the licensing to the publication, telling The Independent, “We have a license to play the song.”
