The incredible Junyan Chen, winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition 2024 silver medal, performs Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s discordant Piano Etude No.2 at the Susie Sainsbury Theatre in the Royal Academy of Music.
Both a musical and an athletic feat, Bartók’s études were written to test and expand a pianist’s playing skills. The result is the musical equivalent to a Jackson Pollock or a Picasso painting.
